Measure your Quilt
Measure the length and width of your quilt top in inches. Multiply the length times the width to get square inches.
(Length x Width = Sq. Inches)
Prepare your Top for Machine Quilting
Top and backing needs to be clean and pressed with secure seams and threads clipped. Quilt back should be seamed if needed. Measure at least 4 inches wider and longer on all sides than top. Use the same measurement for the batting. A squared flat top will get you a squared flat quilt.
Applying borders properly
Measurements are the key to having a quilt lay flat. If the borders are longer than the top you will have waviness. Lay the quilt top out flat and measure at least three different places across the width and length. If stretching has occurred take the middle measurement for the borders. Make the quilt fit the borders not the borders fit the quilt. Take the time to measure carefully...you will be pleased because the quilt will be square and lay flat... and the quilter will be happy because their work will look great!
Packing & Shipping
Pack quilt and other materials in a box large enough for the finished quilt's return shipping. Quilt should be placed in a plastic bag to insure cleanliness. We suggest you buy sufficient insurance on your quilt and ship either USPS Priority Mail or UPS.
